Easy Meal Planning with Fresh Market's Little Big Meal
I hate to admit it, but my meal planning skills have slowly dwindled down to a minimum. When I was first married, I loved figuring out my grocery list, and making new meals. Fast forward twenty years, and my meal planning is in dire straits. Every so often, I'll get on a kick and plan, plan, plan. I think my latest "kick" lasted a week.
So this week I was excited to try something new. A friend suggested heading to Fresh Market on Thursdays. Why Thursday? Every Thursday they have their "Little Big Meal". What's a Little Big Meal? It's a very clever and convenient way to figure out what you'll be making at least one day out of the week. They do all the figuring out for you and the entire meal is only $20 (saving you at least $12 if you would buy everything separately). Normally, I don't shop at Fresh Market since I think some of their prices tend to be on the high side, but if I can feed my family a complete meal for $20 then that's a bonus.
What do you do? You'll pick out a paper bag and just follow the instructions on the printed shopping list. All of the items are conveniently located in one area so you can beeline to the Little Big Meal section if you only want to spend $20. The store is enticing, so it's hard not to purchase other items. You'll select:
A choice of protien (this month it's chicken breast strips or shrimp).
An Imagine Organic Simmer Sauce (Louisiana Creole, Latin Veracruz, Portobellow Red Wine or Thai Coconut Curry).
One simmer sauce veggie kit (veggies are packaged and already cut for you).
Choice of rice (Jasmine, Long-Grain White or Brown)
One dessert (this week it was Chocolate Chip or Oatmeal Raisin cookies).
I think I can handle making this tonight. But if you want some additional recipes for your Little Big Meal, just visit Fresh Market's website.
Stay tuned, I will update this post after I've made the meal. We will see if we have a thumbs up or thumbs down from my peanut gallery.
