Home book party - Kids love books. Why not think about doing a book party at home? You could hire someone to come as their favorite character (Disney Princess, Sponge Bob, Scooby Doo) and do some theme related book ideas. They could act out part of a book, make book covers as a craft and take home a book for their gift. Or talk to your local library to see if you could have a special storytime with friends.

Kids like to be active. They like to use their imaginations to build, create and put together things.  You could do a home building party and put out a variety of supplies and see what clever creations they come up with (one idea is to put out toothpicks and mini marshmallows and they can create their own buildings).  If you aren't ready to turn your home into craft central then you could think about visiting a local craft store or Home Depot for your next birthday party. Horseback Riding Party

If your children love horses and have a sense of adventure then a horseback riding party is something to look into. For wee ones, you can always do a birthday party at Parky's Farm and the kids can go on a pony ride. For older kids, going on a trail ride is a great option. The first part of the birthday could be the trail ride and the second party could be a picnic that you have on the grounds (just get approval from the stables beforehand).

Movie Party

Many local movie theaters have movie themed birthday parties.  They usually have a private room where you can have cake, ice cream and pizza and open presents and then you get to watch a movie on the big screen.  This type of birthday is probably best for 1st graders and up. Or plan a movie night at home. This one can be really fun. Invites can look like movie ticketss. Party favors can be plastic popcorn boxes filled with your favorite movie candy. Set up lots of pillow and blankets for your guests. Or during the summer, coordinate a party with one of the FREE summer movies offered at various parks. Another option is taking the birthday guests to a drive-in movie.

Nature/Farm/Outdoor Party

Being outdoors and around nature and animals is always fun for kids. We have so many wonderful parks and playgrounds in the area. Many of these are FREE so spending a birthday at a local park can be a fairly inexpensive way to host a party. You just might want to have a few extra adults on hand to help monitor all the kids. Kids love animals so spending a birthday on a farm is another great way to experience the outdoors and enjoy the farm animals. There are also farms that can bring the party animals to you if you want to host at your location.

Another adventurous party would be a zipline birthday. There may be age, height and weight requirements for most ziplines so this might be best for pre-teens or teens.
