ShadowQuest is now open at Great Wolf Lodge Mason!
Last week, Great Wolf Lodge invited my family to test out their newest interactive game, ShadowQuest™. Even though we only live five minutes from the park, we felt like we were transported to a wonderland of family fun. We were able to enjoy their amazing waterpark, play in the arcade and participate in some of the Snowland activities.
After we surprised the girls about our trip, they were rapidly questioning me about what we were going to do there. They've played MagiQuest™ many times so, of course, that was one of the top things they wanted to do. When I told them, they were going to try out the new ShadowQuest™, their excitement went into overdrive. ShadowQuest takes you on a "Journey to Save the Light" and you will be introduced to some new characters such as Lumina, leader of the light pixies, Malaki, the Shadowlord, and Ivan, the Runemaster Yeti. These characters really come to life while playing the game.
First, you'll want to stop by the MagiQuest™ shop to get your wand and load the game you'd like to play. Then you'll need to visit the Enchanted Forest for your first instructions on what you need to do. Make sure you use your guide book since it is filled with helpful suggestions. My ten year old took to the game very quickly and was joyously fulfilling her quests as she circulated through the three floors of game stations. She loved it! My eight year old struggled a bit more initially since is was so new to her and she didn't have her older sister helping her and she refused to let Mom join her quest. So, I'd recommend that slightly younger kids use a buddy system when playing the game. Hopefully, your kiddos will accept help from Mom or Dad. By the second day, my youngest got her groove going after some help from her sister and she started gaining confidence in her skills as she mastered some of the Runes. Both girls gave it a thumbs up at the end of our visit. This would be a great adventure for a group of kids to do over winter break. I'm actually planning on going with another Mom. The two of us will hunker down in one of their overstuffed rustic chairs, bring our laptops or smartphones, some magazines or a book and enjoy the day as our kids complete their quests.
One thing that is great about Great Wolf Lodge is that they welcome the public to visit their resort. Even if you aren't staying overnight as a hotel guest, you can still bring the family and enjoy MagiQuest, ShadowQuest, mini-golf, mini-bowling or some arcade fun. If you did want to also use the waterpark, you do need to book a hotel room for that. Plus they have onsite restaurants so you don't have to leave if stomachs start growling. You can either enjoy a yummy pizza at Hungry as a Wolf or visit their newly renovated restaurant, Lodge Wood Fired Grill™. We were able to test out the new restaurant, and enjoyed the food and the friendly and efficient waitstaff. It's open for lunch and dinner but make sure you save room for dessert since they have these adorable mini deserts that everyone will love.
